With the end of captivity in Babylon came new opportunities and new challenges. Regaining ancestral lands and the right to rebuild the Jerusalem Temple did not mean the task would be easy. Politics and the need for reform meant that this new Temple would take a bit longer to finish, and not everyone was happy to see it happen.
